What can I expect from a stone floor restoration estimate?

The exact details of any estimate will depend on the kind of stone you have, the location and the traffic conditions. However any stone restoration estimate should be in writing and give a clear statement of the state of your floor, a clear explanation of the work needed to restore your floor to the desired condition and a fixed price for the work.

Why should I restore my stone floor?

There are several reasons. Amongst the more common reasons are: maintain an attractive appearance, protect the significant investment in your stone floor, a healthier living environment, avoiding further damage to your property, increased property value and peace of mind.

How do I pay for the work?

Cash, personal checks, bank checks, and credit cards (Visa, Master Card, and Discover) are all accepted forms of payment. We also staged payment options for larger jobs. We require a twenty percent deposit with a signed order. The balance is to be paid to our installation team upon completion of the work.

How long does the average job take?

The majority of our domestic work can be completed in one or two days. However, as we are a full-service stone floor restoration contractor, there are some larger scale jobs that may take many days to complete. In every case, our estimate will clarify the expected completion time

What is the average cost to restore a stone floor?

It really depends on the work we need to do. Our estimates are free of charge for this very reason. We have the training and experience to recommend the most practical and economical solution for your particular situation. In general, smaller jobs may only be a few hundred pounds; larger scale jobs can be several thousand pounds.

What happens if problems occur after you do the work?

We welcome all calls about the work we do. On receipt of your call, we will ask you some questions to help determine the cause of the problem and steps required to correct it. In ALL cases you will be contacted personally by the Owner David Allen to ensure that we resolve your provblems to your complete satisfaction.

Though only a minute percentage of our work requires return service, we are as anxious to solve your problem as you are. Much of the reason for our growth over the past 15+ years is because we truly stand behind our work.

Will I have to wait around all day for your stone restoration advisor to show up? How about your work crew?

No. After you provide us with your information, our Customer Service Representative will generally provide you with an exact appointment time frame for your estimate. Your appointment will be scheduled into the diary, allowing sufficient time to arrive on time – or a little earlier. Unfortunately we can not control UK traffic. So if we are likely to be more than 15 minutes later than our agreed appointment time, we will telephone you ahead to ensure the appointment is still suitable. If this will cause you problems, we will arrange an alternative appointment that suits your diary.

I am selling my house. Should I restore my stone floor before I sell it?

A beautiful stone floor will help you maximise the value of your house. Prospective purchasers may be concerned at the cost of restoring and maintaining a stone floor, especially if they have little or no experience in looking after stone flooring.

Do you do restore small stone floors?

We restore all sizes of stone floor. Small stone floors, especially those in bathrooms, shower areas and bathrooms often need more hand work because they are too small for heavy stone machinery.

Can I fix one small area myself?

In most cases, the answer is yes, if you have the equipment, training and experience. But it really depends on your particular problem. If your floor is in good condition, we are more than happy to recommend the right cleaning equipment and materials. If you have small issues that could be solved by hand we are happy to explain what you need to do and the materials you need to purchase. However in most cases we recommend you employ professionals to restore your stone floor.

What are the white chalky lines on my stone floor?

White lines on a stone floor are usually caused by scratches. In dark stones such as black marble, slate, granite, the lines show because the scratches scatter light, making them lighter ad highly visible. Many light stones such as limestone and light marbles may have similar scratches, but they are often less noticeable because of the lightness of the stone

Can anybody be a stone restoration contractor?

The barriers to entry into our industry are pretty small. Any handyman with a vehicle and basic floor cleaning equipment can call himself a stone restoration contractor. Over the past 15+ years, we have seen dozens of new stone restoration companies start up, only to close down their operation in a few months or years because they can’t service their customers.

As with any type of specialist building maintenance work, it is a good idea to ask for references and check with your local Trading Standards to see if the company is in good standing. How long a company has been in business is a true indication of its stability and commitment. Remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Can’t I just pick up some materials from the DIY store and fix my floor myself?

Most cleaning and repair materials found at the local hardware store produce limited results, or will cause lasting damage to your stone floor. There are, however, things you can do yourself such as using the correct cleaning equipment and materials which will help maintain the appearance of your floor.

Over the past 15+ years, we’ve many of homeowners and some general contractors have a go and finally call us. One of the first things they tell us is that they wished they had called us to begin with and not wasted so much time and money.
